What are the potential side effects of Citradine (Sinetrol)?

Citradine contains Sinetrol®, a citrus-based fat metabolism complex derived from grapefruit, sweet orange, blood orange, and occasionally guarana extract, which may contain trace amounts of caffeine.

While generally well-tolerated, some individuals may experience mild or temporary side effects, including:
  1. Digestive discomfort such as nausea, bloating, or stomach cramps
  2. Headache, jitteriness, or increased heart rate (if caffeine is present)
  3. Photosensitivity (increased sensitivity to sunlight) due to grapefruit compounds
  4. Allergic reactions such as itching or rash in citrus-sensitive individuals

Grapefruit-derived compounds may also interact with certain medications, including statins, blood pressure medications, and hormonal contraceptives, by affecting liver enzyme activity.

Rarely, and typically only with very high or prolonged doses, mild liver enzyme elevations have been reported, though this has not been confirmed in clinical studies.

Alert
If you experience any unusual or persistent symptoms, discontinue use and consult your healthcare provider.
