How Do I Take DSIP?

Taking DSIP

DSIP is administered as a subcutaneous (SQ) injection once nightly at bedtime, five nights per week (Monday through Friday). Everything needed for your protocol is included in your shipment.


Preparing Your Injection

Gather your supplies
Each DSIP shipment includes everything needed for your protocol:

  • DSIP vial (pre-mixed, 5 ml)
  • 31-gauge insulin syringes
  • Alcohol swabs
  • Informational pamphlet

Drawing your dose
Using a 31-gauge insulin syringe, draw 20 units from the DSIP vial. The solution is pre-mixed and ready to use directly from the vial.

Storing your vial
Keep the vial refrigerated between 35F and 38F when not in use. Use within 30 days of receipt.


Performing the Injection

  1. Wash hands thoroughly
  2. Clean the injection site with an alcohol swab; allow to dry
  3. Pinch the skin to create a small fold
  4. Insert the needle at approximately a 45-degree angle
  5. Draw back slightly to confirm you are not in a blood vessel
  6. Inject slowly and steadily
  7. Withdraw the needle and apply gentle pressure; do not rub
  8. Dispose of the used needle in a sharps container
