How Do I Know If My Intranasal Medication Needs to Be Mixed Before Use?

Some intranasal medications arrive ready to use, while others require mixing, also called reconstitution, before administration.

To determine whether your medication needs to be mixed, examine the contents of your nasal spray bottle.

  • Ready-to-use medication: If your bottle already contains liquid, your medication does not require mixing. You may proceed with priming the nasal spray before your first dose.

  • Medication requiring reconstitution: If your bottle contains dry peptide powder, the medication must be mixed with the supplied solution before administration.

Medications requiring reconstitution will include a mixing solution syringe and preparation instructions.

Always review your prescription label and any instructions included with your medication before use. If you are uncertain whether your medication requires mixing, contact Direct Meds Clinical Care for assistance.
