Are Side Effects Lower With Microdosing Semaglutide?

Using a lower dose may reduce the likelihood or severity of some dose-related side effects, but side effects can still occur.

Common side effects may include:

  • Nausea

  • Constipation

  • Diarrhea

  • Decreased appetite

  • Stomach discomfort

  • Bloating

  • Heartburn or reflux

  • Fatigue

Individual response varies, and some patients may experience side effects even at a low dose. If you are experiencing mild side effects, please log your symptoms within the Direct Meds patient portal and contact your healthcare provider if they continue or become bothersome. If your symptoms are significant, stop taking your medication and contact your care team promptly. Your provider may recommend staying at your current dose longer, lowering your dose, temporarily holding treatment, or making another adjustment based on your symptoms.

Seek immediate medical attention for severe or concerning symptoms, including severe abdominal pain, chest pain, shortness of breath, or swelling of the face, mouth, or tongue. Do not wait for a response through the patient portal.

Alert
If you experience serious side effects while taking a GLP-1 medication—such as severe or persistent abdominal pain (especially if it spreads to your back), repeated vomiting or inability to keep fluids down, or yellowing of your skin or eyes—go to the nearest emergency department for evaluation.

Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. They are prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies under medical supervision and may differ in formulation, dosing, and supporting evidence from FDA-approved products.
